An Update from the Mayor and Commission
Wednesday, September 4, 2019 - 6:15 pm
As we return to normal operations after Hurricane Dorian, we thank our residents and local businesses who secured their property and helped others during this stressful time.
We’re grateful that South Florida was spared a direct hit from this powerful storm. Unfortunately, our friends in the Bahamas did not fare as well and bore the brunt of Dorian for an extended period. We want to extend our deepest sympathies and offer what help we can as they deal with the storm’s aftermath.
Tamarac is collecting supplies for hurricane victims in the Bahamas. The following donations will be accepted from 10 am – 7 pm on September 5 – 7, at the Community Center, 8601 W. Commercial Blvd., and Recreation Center, 7501 N. University Dr.
First aid supplies
New unfueled small generators
Please note, these are the only donations being accepted. All donations will be given to the United Way to be delivered to the people of the Bahamas. The City will NOT accept monetary donations. If you wish to donate money, you can make online gifts to either www.UnitedWayBroward.org/HurricaneDorian or www.RedCross.org.
Thank you for whatever you can do.
Please remember that hurricane season runs through November 30, so stay prepared. For information and tips on how to do so, visit www.Ready.gov.
Finally, to keep informed about future storms, monitor the local news and www.nhc.noaa.gov.
