[ARCHIVED] TAMARAC HONORS OUR NATION’S VETERANS AT THE ANNUAL MEMORIAL DAY CEREMONY

Wreath covered in white, red and blue florals TAMARAC, Fla. (May 24, 2023) – The City of Tamarac invites community members to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice to defend our freedom at the annual Memorial Day Ceremony, on Monday, May 29th, at 10:30 a.m.   

 

The ceremony will take place at Tamarac Community Center, located at 8601 W. Commercial Blvd. The program includes a presentation of colors, led by the Tamarac Fire Rescue Honor Guard. The Veterans Affairs Committee will lead the Pledge of Allegiance, and vocalist Lori Conti will sing the national anthem. World-class singing organization, The Miamians, will perform the “Armed Forces Salute.” A wreath-laying ceremony will follow to honor our fallen American heroes. 

 

The program also includes a keynote address from Vietnam War veteran, Herbert Sennett, Ph.D., LTC, USA, Retired. Sennett served 24 years as an officer in the U.S. Army Reserves, and three years of active duty. He has held several major commands, including serving a six-month stint as Post Chaplain at Hunter Army Airfield. He also served as a U.S. Army Reserves Chaplain. 

 In honor of Memorial Day, the Tamarac Veterans Affairs Committee will be on-site collecting non-perishable food, socks and toiletry items for unhoused veterans.
