[ARCHIVED] Broward County Confirms Curfew for June 2

Curfew

Broward County’s Administrator has confirmed the extension of the countywide curfew through tonight. It will be in force from 9 pm on Tuesday, June 2 through 6 am on Wednesday, June 3.

The County has an Emergency Curfew Order in place through June 7, and the County Administrator is assessing the need for a curfew on a daily basis, based on credible threats of civil unrest.

During the curfew, residents are permitted to travel between their home and place of employment and to walk their pets within 250 feet of their residences. No person is allowed to use any street or sidewalk in Broward County for any purpose, except for active duty police, fire rescue, first responders and medical, health care and utility service personnel.

Media is exempt from the curfew while in the course of conducting their business.

Broward County Code of Ordinances gives the County Administrator the authority to impose a general curfew applicable throughout the community while there is a State of Local Emergency in effect.
