The County extended the Emergency Curfew Order issued on Sunday in response to growing civil unrest that could potentially threaten the health, safety and welfare of people in Broward. The curfew will be in force from 9 pm on Monday, June 1 through 6 am on Tuesday, June 2.
The curfew order is in place through June 7, and the County Administrator will assess the need for a curfew on a daily basis, based on credible threats of civil unrest.
During the curfew, no person is allowed to use any street or sidewalk in Broward County for any purpose, except for active duty police, fire rescue, first responders and medical, health care and utility service personnel.
Residents are permitted to travel between their home and place of employment and to walk their dogs or other pets within 250 feet of their residences. Media, while in the course of conducting their business, is exempt from the curfew.
Broward County Code of Ordinances gives the County Administrator the authority to impose a general curfew applicable throughout the community while there is State of Local Emergency in effect.
