Latest Update:

July 29, 2021 5:59 PM

According to the Florida Department of Health, Broward County’s COVID-19 positivity rate is on an upward trend. The pandemic’s UK variant is most prevalent; and the Delta strand remains active. While nearly 70% of the County’s population, age 12 and older, has received at least one vaccine dose, current vaccine demand remains low, as positive COVID-19 cases rise primarily among unvaccinated individuals. This local trend is also emerging in other parts of the County.

Updated CDC recommendations regarding wearing of masks and facial coverings among vaccinated individuals were recently issued, as well as other important guidance. These recommendations are detailed in the CDC’s Interim Public Health Recommendations for Fully Vaccinated People. Some of the important highlights include guidance for:

  • Indoor and outdoor mask wearing by fully vaccinated people
  • Fully vaccinated people with COVID-19 symptoms
  • Fully vaccinated people with no COVID-like symptoms following an exposure to someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19
  • General guiding principals for fully vaccinated people

  • All voluntary indoor group gatherings are cancelled until further notice, with a few exceptions.
