According to the Florida Department of Health, Broward County’s COVID-19 positivity rate is on an upward trend. The pandemic’s UK variant is most prevalent; and the Delta strand remains active. While nearly 70% of the County’s population, age 12 and older, has received at least one vaccine dose, current vaccine demand remains low, as positive COVID-19 cases rise primarily among unvaccinated individuals. This local trend is also emerging in other parts of the County.
Updated CDC recommendations regarding wearing of masks and facial coverings among vaccinated individuals were recently issued, as well as other important guidance. To ensure continuity of business operations, while maintaining healthy and safe public facilities for our staff and guests, the City of Tamarac will adopt practices to decrease the odds of transmitting COVID-19 and other communicable diseases, based on CDC guidance. Effective immediately:
Parks and Recreation Department Updates
Facility Rentals will continue. Attendees of private indoor events are required to wear masks at all times while inside the facility. Book facility rentals by calling (954)597-3620. information. Reserve picnic shelters online.
Colony West Golf Club guests must wear masks while indoors. Masks are not required when golfing.
Fitness Center – A reduced number of guests may enter the fitness center at once. Masks required when entering and leaving the facility. Social distancing encouraged.
Caporella Aquatics Center will continue its current operations. Masks are required for all guests upon entering and leaving the aquatic facility.
Youth Basketball games and practice sessions are postponed until mid-September.
Adult Basketball League games and practice sessions will continue as scheduled. Masks are required for players upon entering and leaving game locations, and while on the bench.
Senior, Adult and Youth In-person Classes will continue as planned with limited participation numbers, allowing for social distancing practices. Masks required at all times for participants. Advance registration is available online.
Summer Camps end in August as planned. Masks must be worn by campers at all times during indoor activities.
Outdoor Events will continue as planned. Masks are encouraged.
