Tamarac University is an eight (8) week interactive program held twice each year, in the Spring and Fall. The program provides students with a behind the scenes look at Tamarac and also provides the opportunity to meet your local government officials face-to-face. In a classroom-like atmosphere, citizens will learn from elected officials, department directors, and other City staff about the role of local government and public service. Tamarac University serves as a training ground for volunteers in community service and provides networking opportunities for civic-minded residents. Participants are expected to attend at least six (6) of the eight (8) classes.
Applications will be reviewed by a committee composed of City staff. Participants will be notified of their acceptance by phone and/or email four (4) weeks in advance, and will be provided a complete schedule prior to the start of the program. Only complete applications will be considered.
*PLEASE NOTE: As a student of Tamarac University (TU) you will be visiting the secure BSO Tamarac District headquarters and could be exposed to sensitive information, therefore a background screening will be performed on all accepted TU students. Admittance to the program is contingent upon the background screening.
