Together, the Community Development and Building departments work to ensure the quality and safety of structures in Tamarac. Before Hurricane Irma struck, employees from both departments worked with builders at all the construction sites in the City to make sure they secured their building materials and structures in advance of the storm.
Afterward, they joined the Rapid Impact Assessment teams that went out to assess the safety of buildings and structures throughout the City. They found 73 properties with moderate damage. They provided tarps for any property that required it and instruction on how to secure roofs from further damage.
