Hurricane Irma Update 8

Now that Irma has passed, Tamarac crews are completing their Rapid Impact Assessment, which will determine how we allocate restoration resources.

City facilities remain closed until further notice. Crews will be focusing on clearing emergency corridors – roads leading to and from hospitals and police and fire stations.

Tamarac’s water remains safe to drink.

Currently, about half of the City is without power. Visit www.fpl.com for updates on service restoration. If you’re using a generator, please remember the following:

-        Generators produce toxic carbon monoxide fumes, so keep the exhaust at least 20 feet from     windows and doors
-        Never use a generator, grill or camp stove indoors
-        Never store fuel for the generator inside the home

There’s a very good chance you’ll have storm debris to get rid of. Do not place debris in the roadway. Instead, please place the debris as neatly as possible in your swale, and it will be picked up in the coming days by the City’s emergency contractor.

Tuesday morning, Waste Management will begin collection of garbage only. Please do not mix debris with the garbage. Do not put out recycling.

We’ll continue to keep you updated as the situation warrants.
